From past several months I was reading articles about registry cleaning issues and solution over the internet. The more discussed issue was registry cleaning. People want to clean the registry as to speed up their computer machines. That created interest in me as I clean and maintain the computers a lot but in a different way. I am using computers since 1993 and am well aware of these problems and solutions. This is more management issue than the windows software installs and uninstalls or day to day usage.

Today, we will discuss the reasons of registry mess-ups and the solutions for that. Plus, we would discuss the precautions to avoid registry corruptions.

What is windows registry?
The Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that stores configuration settings and options on Microsoft Windows operating systems. It contains settings for low-level operating system components as well as the applications running on the platform: the kernel, device drivers, services, SAM, user interface and third party applications all make use of the Registry. The registry also provides a means to access counters for profiling system performance.

What is registry cleaner?
A registry cleaner is a type of software utility designed for the Microsoft Windows operating system whose purpose is to remove redundant or unwanted items from the Windows registry.

Who makes a good and reliable registry cleaner?
This is a hard to win debate as everyone says that their software is number one in the market. And, I would not compare too many software today but rather discuss the most reliable one. The first one is "Norton Utilities" software that is believed to be the most competent in the market. Norton Utilities is not free and not anyone can use it. Second is "Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner" software that works direct from Microsoft website. This is a 100% free software for almost all windows versions. OneCare installs or downloads its files in the local machine but never use them again. It downloads these files fresh from the source whenever we need those to fine tune the computer. That means, this module clean the computers with the latest files available at Microsoft website whenever we request to do that. So, this software seems to be good.

Here is the question:

If Microsoft provides the registry cleaner tool then why we use the tool made by others?
Answer: I think most of the people do not know about this highly valuable tool. And this is the main reason I am writing this article to save my fellow computer users from other software companies.

Here is my feedback about this software:

1. This tools works fresh from their website every time we use it.

2. This is made by windows developer (Microsoft) and they know better about their operating system other than anyone else.

3. This is quick and fast.

4. OneCare tool never gave us any problem.

How to avoid registry corruptions?

1. Always use licensed software.

2. Always use "Internet Security" software.

3. Always keep windows "Auto Update" features on.

4. Always use "user account" instead of Admin account in windows.

5. Do not install and uninstall too many software.

6. Install only good repute software or licensed software.
